Day 9- Part Two- Field of Dreams

I should talk about the baseball field. I mean, it was like a MLB field in that it had the baselines and home plate and that stuff. However, there were some interesting structural difference. There were obviously the bases...those were the same. And likewise the giant electronic billboard remained a common item. However there were some oddities.

For one, the back wall of the stadium was moved in. Confused why that may be? Well...while it was kinda awkward looking the function was recognized: Korean guys can't hit as far as Americans. They were all smaller guys, probably 5'10 ish (which to defend, I'm 5'10 myself, but for MLB, that's tiny). Nor can they throw as far. A base hit in Korea goes a lot further because the outfielders don't have really great arms. Or maybe that was just the two teams that were playing. It was interesting to notice though. The skill level was lower, sorta like high school. The batters swung kinda choppy and the infield I swear did not know how to make a double play as there were roughly six opportunities for one over the course of the game but never did one actually happen. Which led me to believe that they don't exist in Korea, but I talked to Jin and he confirmed that they did.

Also, probably to save space or something the bullpen was right next to the dugout. Not sure why that is, but it saves the coach making a phone call.

Here's the scoreboard later. Notice anything different. Well, compared to the usual count being "BALL-STRIKE- Out" the count was "STRIKE- BALL- Out". Not sure why that was, but it was an interesting difference to me at least.

Ok, next post.
